Hi all,
So as my friends and people who travel with me know, I'm kind of a gym nut. Beyond just vanity, for me, the gym or a workout of some sort in the morning is how I stay grounded. Traveling around the world as a digital nomad is definitely fun and exciting but it's easy to get caught up in the festivities and become unhealthy. Thus, for me, working out is the routine, balance, and grounding I need to stay healthy, no matter where I go!
To make sure I have no excuses in working out while traveling, I always carry around resistance bands. However, of course if given the choice my first choice is always the gym. And so, as I travel to different places, I've made it a priority to explore the different gym options. While a fancy hotel might provide a fitness room, for the average budget digital nomad/backpacker or short term travelers, it's not as easy. Most gyms usually require a commitment for a year or have lucratively expensive options for a day pass. The only exception to this is Active & Fit program in the States which gives access to a whole network of gyms for $30 USD a month. This has served me well when back in the States but for those looking international it gets more tough. But hey, I always love a good challenge. I'm happy to say that throughout my travels I've managed to find some affordable gym options throughout my travels. After encouragement from some friends and an employee at the last gym I went to in Brooklyn, I've decided to compile a list and share the options I find as I travel. Here's to all my fellow travelers who are fitlife enthusiasts - enjoy and stay active!
